Manufacturer documents first: specification sheets, user manuals, and official product pages. Each figure is stored with a source and a date. Retailer listings, marketplace copy, and review roundups are not sources. If two official documents disagree, both are noted and the cell is not silently averaged.
Bodies and lenses use published fields only — format, resolution, native ISO, autofocus wording, burst rate, buffer, video maximum, IBIS, sealing language, mass, mount; for glass, focal length, maximum aperture, filter size, stabilisation, weather wording. Units stay as sourced. Optical quality is not a column.
We do not score cameras or lenses. There is no rank, no weighted total, and no overall score. Comparable fields sit side by side as the manufacturer published them, each with a source and a date. Missing figures stay hatched blanks. Use cases — the job — decide which columns you read first; they do not invent fields or turn specs into points.
Affiliate URLs. Invented specifications. Rankings sold as editorial. Handling verdicts written from a spreadsheet. Image-quality grades reverse-engineered from a spec sheet. Waitlist counts. Anything we cannot date.
If a sourced figure is wrong, it is replaced from a better document and the date is updated. The previous value is not kept as a shadow ranking. Blank is preferred to a guess.
